Calderdale roads struggling with heavy downpours and flash flooding

Heavy downpours have led to flash flooding and reports of surface water on major roads in the Calder Valley.

Halifax Road, Todmorden, was closed but has become passable again although there is still standing water.

Thunderstorms bringing deluges of rain and hail have caused localised flooding on Shade Street and Lock Street, in Todmorden, with some properties affected.

The rain is beginning to ease off but problems are still anticipated on the roads.

There is up to a foot and a half of standing water on parts of the road at Cote Hill, Friendly, near Sowerby Bridge,
