He advised all clubs of his decision at last night’s league meeting.

Myers has not only been secretary since 2011 but has also been instrumental in developing the junior league and Sunday section over very many years prior to that.

He is also secretary of Queensbury CC, whose firsts play in the Premier Division, and was one of the stalwarts who founded the club in 2000, with the merger of the Union Croft and Yews Green clubs.

The dovetailing of his many roles, over the past year in particular, has proven to be an onerous task and he has decided to relinquish one of them.

Anthony Briggs, the league chairman, said: “Neil has done terrific work over the past six years in the league secretary’s role and we thank him sincerely for all his efforts.

“The league’s executive, and we are sure the clubs, fully understand his loyalty to Queensbury and we wish him well in his role there, as well as his continued contribution to the junior league.

“The bonus is that he is not disappearing completely and we look forward to meeting up with him at future league events.

“His passion, commitment and vision for our game is simply amazing.”
