Brighouse hit back for a point

Brighouse Town showed fine battling qualities to hit back for a 2-2 draw away to Trafford FC in their opening Northern Premier League match of the season yesterday.

Things looked gloomy when Town trailed 2-0 at the break. An Adam Wilson foul enabled Chris McDonagh to score from the penalty spot on 19 minutes and Jack Dorney lobbed Trafford’s second just before the break.

However, Jimmy Pollard got the visitors back in the contest two minutes into the second period when he finished from 12 yards after a quick break.

The equaliser came in the 88th minute when Ernest Boafo cashed in on good work from substitute Tom Haigh.

Town are quickly back in action on Monday when they host Ossett Town at St Giles Road.
