FC Halifax Town: Gloucester trip will be as tough as it gets, says Heath

The Tigers are one place above Town with the same number of points, despite only finishing four points above the drop zone last season.

“It’s a big game, but they all are,” he added.

“We’re trying to build on the performances and results we’ve had.

“The club has won three consecutive games for the first time in two years, and that tells you where the club was before this season.

“Any away win is a good one, but Gloucester is one of the toughest away fixtures we will have - it’s as tough as any of the others.

“Three points will hopefully get us back into the play-offs.

“They’ve had a couple of disappointing results so they’ll be thinking it’s important to get back to winning ways.”

Heath was pleased Town found a way to win last week against Stalybridge.

“We want to continue where we left off on Saturday,” he said.

“I thought it was a difficult game.

“We were outstanding in the first-half and played some really good stuff.

“Then it was bitty and difficult to get any rhythm.

“But what pleased me was we won.

“Maybe three or four weeks ago, we probably would have drawn that game.

“But we’ve got to keep finding ways of winning - that’s what it’s about.

“It wasn’t pretty to look at, but if we’re going to be competitive we have to find ways of winning.”

Heath says his squad is in as good a shape as it has been all season, with more players available than at any other point this term.

The Town manager is satisfied with Town’s current standing, and says they’re still a work-in-progress.

“It’s been mixed in one way but that doesn’t surprise me,” he added.

“We’re still a fledgling team.

“I’m pleased enough with where we are at the minute.

“Everybody wants to be top of the league but we are a team that has been put together in a short space of time.

“If we can get into the play-offs on Saturday I’ll be pleased because we will be getting to where we want to be.”
