FC Halifax Town: Heath still on the lookout for another signing

Billy Heath would still like to add one more signing to the squad, but has come up against some obstacles in the process.

Town brought in loan signing Keil O’Brien last week from Southport for a month, but Heath is keen to add another new face to his squad.

However, he says other clubs have been hiking up their prices as soon as Halifax show an interest in their players.

“It’s been frustrating,” he said. “I’ve been like a broken record about it but the minute we come in for a player people add noughts on the end.

“But I won’t pay over the odds, I want value for money.

“We’re still looking for one more player but we need the right personnel.

“I don’t want a big turnaround of players, people coming and going out all the time.

“No-one is more frustrated than me but we’re working all the time on trying to get someone else in.”

Heath is set to welcome back Cliff Moyo to his squad after the right-back served his three-game suspension, while captain Liam King was due to train on Thursday night ahead of being part of the squad at Telford on Saturday.

The Town boss admits Monday’s dour display against Harrogate gave the home fans little to cheer, but praised the level of support from the terraces so far this season.

“The supporters have been tremendous,” he added.

“We didn’t give them anything to shout about on Monday but I think they saw we deserved something from Saturday.

“To have 1,900 Halifax fans there on Monday was fantastic and even near the end of the game they still got behind us and tried to almost suck the ball into the net.

“The fans have been superb.”
