FC Halifax Town: "We've got to keep going" urges Wild amid doubts over conclusion to the season

Football in the National League North and South was suspended this week for the next two weeks to allow a possible solution to be found over a row regarding funding.

The National League season only started thanks to grants that were given to all the clubs, but they are now being offered loans to cover the rest of the season, a decision which has seen several clubs air their concerns about the financial implications.

But football in the National League is continuing for now, and Wild, speaking after Town's 2-1 win at Bromley on Saturday, said that, although he anticipates it may take a couple of weeks for the situation to be resolved, the season, in the fifth tier at least, should carry on.

"We've got to keep going, and prove to the league that we can fulfill the fixtures, and we only do that by playing them," he said.

"I'm really pleased that there was a full fixture programme in our league today.

"I think we'll be fine, we've just got to keep playing.

"We've got to be sensible, but there's nobody in this league, no chairman in this league who wants the league stopping, so if that's the case, we've got to keep going.

"But then we've got to prove as football clubs that we can fulfill the fixtures, so when I saw all the fixtures were on in our league I was over the moon because that's proving to the league, to whoever's giving us the grants etc etc, that we can finish this league, and that's what we want to do.

"I'm employed to be a football manager, I don't want to sit at home for five months, nobody does."
