“I’m pleased it’s a little bit later because that gives everybody a little bit of time to rest and recuperate,” said the Town boss.

“I feel by that date, we’ll all be in a better place to be ready to go, and everybody will be wanting football back again.

“My worry was it was going to jump from one season to the next. Granted, we’ve had a lot of time off, but everybody will have a bit of time to take their foot off the gas, go on holiday if they can, and prepare for the new season.”

As for when The Shaymen will start pre-season training, Wild said: “We’ve got a start date in mind. I had communicated a date with e players, based on what I thought it might be with the EFL, but obviously now that’s changed, so I’ll be communicating that start date with the players over the next few days.”

And on his plans for pre-season friendlies, Wild said: “It’s probably going to be Conference North and under 23 games.

“You generally play high-profile teams to get some revenue through the door but with no fans for the friendlies, it doesn’t really matter about the big opposition.

“We’ll pick teams to give us a game that suit the way we want to play.”
