Matlock 1-1 FC Halifax Town: Fans Panel verdict
Adam Heslop
Man of the match
Scott Garner was a great stand in captain; very vocal too. He made few mistakes and tried to rally the troops who didn’t seem all that interested.
Moment of the match
Alex Simmons’ get out of jail goal was the only moment that gave the fans something to shout about, even if they could only just see it through the thick fog.

Hide AdThere wasn’t a marked improvement from our poor performance last week. Not sure if Matlock were excellent or we were awful!
Kit Walton
Man of the match
Scott Garner. He kept his head while others panicked around him. It was probably an improved team performance from last week, but that’s not saying a lot!
Moment of the match
Danny Clarke’s goal, which was disallowed for reasons I don’t pretend to understand. It looked a good goal to me, but the referee obviously felt differently. I suspect the game may well have been won had we scored then, but we’ll never know for sure.
Moan of the match
Starting with a single striker. It’s hard enough to score goals with a balanced team; this one clearly wasn’t, and it showed us up. Presumably, it was felt that some players needed a rest.

Hide AdScott Garner: not many players stood out on the day. Garner seemed solid against a lively Matlock attack.
Moment of the match
9th minute, Tom Denton heads narrowly wide from a corner with a free header. If he got that on target the entire afternoon would have been very different
Moan of the match
Matlock seemed far more up for a battle than the Shaymen, credit goes to Simmons for a fine equaliser but Matlock unlucky not to win on the day.
