Sunday League: Big wins for top two in Premier Division

Waiters raced into a 2-0 lead with good finishes from Billy Grogan and Lee Wood from outside the area.

Joe Gibson pulled one back for Hollins just before half time, but Waiters restored their two-goal cushion after the interval through Reece Uttley.

He added another before a Lee Albon brace put the result beyond doubt.

Hollins pulled a goal back with five minutes to go when Gibson rose highest at a corner to nod home.

But the scoring was complete when Uttley raced clear to finish well and grab his hat-trick.

Halifax Hammers are only three points behind with a game-in-hand after they beat King Cross 11-0.

Hammers got of to a flying start with only three minutes gone, as Irfan Afzal picked out youngster Awais Khan, who hit a stunning volley from 25 yards.

It was 2-0 after six minutes when a delightful ball by Khurram Shazad found Terriq Pervez on edge of area, and he placed his shot in top corner.

King Cross held out until the 35th minute when Khurram Shazad dummied his marker just outside the area and unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner.

Just before half-time, central defender Mazn Amhamed went on a mazy run from his own half and scored a terrific solo goal to make it 4-0.

The floodgates really opened after the interval though, with Sameer Ahmed scoring at the far post after good link-up play with Pervez.

On 56 minutes, another excellent through ball by Afzal sent Pervez in clear and he finished into the bottom corner to make it 6-0.

Ahmed added Hammers’ seventh on 74 minutes when a well worked corner was dummied for him to hit a neat shot into the top corner.

Ahmed completed his hat-trick after again combining well with Pervez, before the favour was repaid and Ahmed put Pervez through before he went around the keeper to make it 9-0.

Good play by Jasim Salih and Pervez put the ball on plate for Afzal, who scored from close range to make it 10-0, and on 88 minutes, Ahsan Farooq scored a stunner with a first time volley into the top corner to make it 11-0.

In the only other Premier Division game, Feathers beat Ryburn Valley 5-0.

Bradshaw were the big winners in Division One, hammering Halifax Rangers 12-1.

Halifax Hammers Reserves continued their good form in 2018 by beating Cock and Bottle 6-2.

Hammers started slowly on a heavy pitch but it all started to click with strong forward Suhail Bashir dominating Cock and Bottle’s defence,

Superb vision by Ishtiaq Ali took out three defenders and sent Bashir through, and he rounded the keeper but was fouled. Captain Wajid Nawaz scored the resulting penalty.

After that it was all Hammers, with Bashir bullying his marker and comfortably beating the keeper from 12 yards.

Quick thinking between Foysal Ahmed saw his corner to Aawais Ashfaq converted with a cracking finish from the edge of area.

The goal of the game was scored by Zaheer Hanif, who smashed the ball in from 30 yards.

Further efforts from Bashir and Ahmed racked up Hammers’ half-dozen before Cock and Bottle scored two late consolation goals.

Elsewhere, Thrum Hall beat Halifax Amateurs 3-2.
