The 15-year-old, who emigrated with his family to Perth in Western Australia last October, now plays at the Joondalup Resort.

The club’s PGA professional George Campbell said juniors normally had to play for two years before having a chance of membership but Jacob had been offered a place after eight weeks.

“This was mainly because of his ability, which we are very excited about, but also his commitment before and after school.”

Jacob has taken his chance with both hands and won his opening three matches in the club’s junior team playing in Western Australia Division One. He has also won two prizes and finished runner-up in junior competitions at the club.

Jacob started playing aged four when his family lived at Norton Tower, Halifax. He was a member of the Young Masters Academy at West End.

When the Orleys moved to Stainland in 2007, Jacob joined Bradley Hall, where junior section president Roy Lofts put him forward for Yorkshire Golf.

Jacob won the Golf Factor in 2013 and various club competitions, including most improved junior, and he played in the Bradley Hall junior team which made it to the local Union finals last year.

Jacob’s mum Sam said: “He so misses his friends at the club, mostly the old chaps who don’t have Facebook!”

Jacob’s younger brother Sylas, 10, could also be a golfer in the making with Campbell saying he had a lot of natural talent.
