Super League clubs have voted against allowing Toronto back into the competition next year by eight votes to four.

Toronto resigned from the 2020 competition after former owner David Argyle said he could no longer fund the club.

“As an expansionist I’m pretty disappointed to see them ejected from Super League,” said Grix.

“I think they can bring a lot to the game globally. It’s just a shame it’s gone on so long for this to happen this way.

“It’s a real shame as to what could happen next. I remember the owner that was in talks to take over saying it was Super League or bust so I think it’ll be a big loss to the game if that is the case.”

The structure of next year’s Super League is still to be decided, with clubs now set to decide whether they have an 11-team league or bring a new club into the division.
