Chance to create book cover

Calling all creatives! Hebden Bridge Picture House wants you to conjure up an eye-catching original image of the much-loved cinema to for the cover of a book about the its history.

The book, written by Kate Higham and Ray Barnes from the Friends of the Picture House, will be published this autumn, sharing the cinema’s trials and triumphs from when it first opened its doors in 1921 to now.

Entrants are invited to work in any medium - painting, drawing, photography, sewing or sculpture - what the judges are interested in is the take on the cinema’s iconic frontage.

The book will be a paperback, and printed in portrait approximately A5, so entrants should bear in mind their image will be resized to a specified design template.

If you are using email, the resolution should be at least 300 dpi. Or if you prefer, you can send in a low-res version for viewing and if you are a finalist, we will contact you to get the high-res version.

Also bear in mind when composing your image that the cover will also contain the book’s title, sub title, author’s names and the logo(s) of the Friends of the Picture House and Hebden Bridge Picture House too.

Entries are by midday on Monday, September 19. All entrants must submit their image by email to [email protected] with name, address, email address and telephone number. Or deliver/post your entry and contact details to the cinema addressed to the Manager, Hebden Bridge Picture House, New Road, Hebden Bridge, HX7 8AD. Good luck.
