Two concerts but get your tickets fast

So the internationally renowned band’s management are suggesting they should be top of that Christmas shopping list!

This year B&R will perform at Central Methodist Church on December 10 at at 2.30pm and 7.15pm.

The matinee will also feature music pupils from Rastrick High School.

From past experience audiences just love to see youngsters perform in public and this year, with groups conducted by the well known tutors Alison Pryce-Jones and Samantha Harrison, fine and inspired renditions from their respective junior choral and brass groups are guaranteed.

Completing the remainder of the matinee, and the whole evening performance, are Brighouse & Rastrick themselves who are sure to be in the best of festive moods after the challenges of the Autumn contest season.

They always put on uplifting shows to help kindle Christmas spirits and will be under the baton of resident musical director, Leigh Baker, which guarantees smiles aplenty.

The band is fresh from their appearance at The Sage, Gateshead on November 20, in the annual ‘Brass in Concert’ event. Elements from that contest will be blended with the ever-popular Christmas favourites and audience carols that everybody loves to hear so much.

lComposers and artists representing the very best in contemporary music will converge this coming week for the 39th Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (November 18-27).

The internationally-renowned festival will feature its trademark mix of contemporary jazz and classical, improvisation, electronica, noise and sound art and boasts 39 concerts including 21 World premieres and 63 UK premieres.

Artistic Director Graham McKenzie said: “This year’s Festival is undoubtedly characterised by the bringing together of often quite disparate forces, to create new sounds, new experiences, and new approaches to music making. The true purpose behind these musical experiments of course is to continue to push boundaries, to break down barriers, and (mis)conceptions about music.”
